In case word has not spread yet, roof rats have been found at Dobson & Guadalupe on Wednesday, January 14th. Please, everybody who owns a citrus tree or has a neighbor's tree hanging into their yard - Please STRIP your citrus tress of ALL FRUIT! Also, do some clean up under bushes i.e. oleanders - we need to remove any potential living quarters. I don't think anybody wants damage to their homes just to maintain a good crop of fruit. Let's work together to prevent the rats from taking over Marlborough Mesa!!

You Are Right!
Hi Kari,
I just wrote the article for the newsletter about the roof rats. My husband's family had to deal with these destructive creatures in the Arcadia Area. You are so right about getting rid of all fruit. Also, if anyone has a rat on their property it should be reported to the Maricopa County Health Department at 602-506-6616. If a rat has been discovered in Marlborough Mesa it should be reported on this WEB site or reported to an Ambassador so that all homeowners are aware of the problem. We need to stop the Rat before it becomes a problem in our neighborhood.

Again, You Are So RIght!!
Hi Nancy,
My wife and I received a flier at our door concerning Roof Rats and we would like to thank you for spreading the word. I think it wonderful that we have a Discussion Index at Marlborough Mesa to share information with all of our neighbors. Although, the flier cited the Maricopa County Health Department web page and phone number, our neighbors can also contact Barry Paceley, an Arcadia resident, who as I understand it, has volunteered to work with Mesa and Glendale on this subject. His Web site,www.paceley.net/n2n/, offers tips and gives information on traps that his neighbors have proven work. He says residents WILL be rat-free if they do four things: seal their homes, manicure their landscaping, set out proper snap traps and recommended poisons, and work with immediate neighbors.
Mesa will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 26 at Rhodes Junior High School to further discuss the Roof Rats problem. The city will provide Dobson Ranch with extra trash containers for citrus and vegetation next month. Maybe someone attending this meeting can ask ''what about Marlborough Mesa?''

Thanks for Rhodes Meeting info
Jimmy,
Thanks for the additional info on the meeting at Rhodes. I had heard about it - but did not know details. I will add that in Nancy's newsletter article concerning the rats.
