Speed Bumps

Posted in: Marlborough Mesa
I would like to explore having some speed bumps put in on Peralta. It is both amazing and scary the speeds at which I have seen vehicles travel on this stretch. If anyone has any feelings for or against I would like to know. Especially if you live on Peralta. Thanks!

Hello Kevin and Christal Biesty,
I'm definitely in favor of Speed Bumps on Peralta. Our home is on the Corner of Extension and Peralta. My worst fear is having an out of Control Vehicle crash into our Living Room!!!!!!! Also, we need to have a safe way to remind drivers they have entered a Residential Neighborhood with Pedestrians, Animals, and Children in Progress!!!!!! Thanks for Asking !!!!!!

We are in agreement with you where speed bumps are concerned. As much as we personally hate them, it may be the only way to get some drivers to slow down. Although we do not have as much through traffic as you do (we are on Posada at the intersection with Pampa) it's amazing how often we hear tires squealing around the corner in front of our home. You have our support. Let us know if there's anything we can do.

Hello Kevin and neighbors! By introduction, my name is Thaine Crown and I live at 853 W. Posada. The other day I mentioned to my son the need for speed bumps on Peralta. We were approaching Peralta from a South-bound route on Spruce and preparing to turn right, there was nothing visible coming from the left (albeit a slight curve in Peralta prevents a full view to the East), so we pulled out heading West on Peralta, and immediately found a car on our bumper, which stayed there as though I had cut the other driver off. To accomplish this self-imposed frustration of being "cut off", the other driver must have been driving in excess of 50 m.p.h. Further, while traveling East on Peralta at the speed limit, I have been passed at that same intersection while preparing to turn left onto Spruce; I had to brake to allow the pass on the left before I could turn left. If drivers present themselves as untrustworthy, then speed bumps are the only reliable remedy. I don't like them, but they are less obtrusive than is the police trailer that merely informs drivers of their speed--we have speedometers and speedometers don't violate the neighborhood CCR's as does the police trailer. What is our next step?
