Yesterday, I spoke with the City Editor, Brian, of The Tribune and they definitely want to do a story on our neighborhood April 1,2000! He made it perfectly clear he did not want me to open the door for The Republic though. They would like to do an exclusive!
They want to publish this story (with pictures) in the Sunday edition April 2, 2000.
He told me that the signage was significant -- but it is the culmination of a lot of hard work from a neighborhood with many people involved that has no Association which was the real story!
This is the story they are after. From the beginning stages of our active Blockwatch programs, the building of the Park, painting of our exterior Alma School and Guadalupe fences, the Ambassador Program, Marlborough Website, the landscaping of our corners and all along Alma School, being nominated NEIGHBORHOOD of the YEAR by the City of Mesa, the PRIDE Grant, plus all the donations of funds from so many people living in Marlborough ... to the actual installation of the signage.
I gave Joanne, who took this assignment, phone numbers of several leaders in Marlborough, whom they would like to ask questions about the history and growth of our "special" neighborhood.
Any one of you may get a call.
