Last week I was in my garage on my day off. A typical Thursday, until I heard a metallic clanging sound. I looked out on the sidewalk and there was a crowbar laying there. I saw a man riding away on a mtn bike. I called to him and he came back stating ''I guess it's mine'' as I handed him the crowbar. I noticed he was wearing a backpack and it appeared to be empty. As he rode away I knew something was wrong. I thought it over for a few minutes and decided to call the police. I spent 30 seconds on the phone, far less than I expected. 3 minutes later a police helo zoomed into the area followed by 3 police cars. Later a police officer came to my house and told me that they had found the guy, he was carrying 5 garage door openers and I had probably saved 3 to 4 burglary calls for them. He was sent packing. Think about it.. 30 seconds to prevent crime.

suspect?
Has anyone checked to see if the bicycle/crow bar guy was involved with the house break-in Wedsday? My wife was telling me that the guys house hit was the same guy that called the cops on the bike guy? Connection? More than one person call in?

another suspect?
No, but I received this message from another homeowner on Pampa by the park Sunday, May 05, 2002
''Friday morning when I left to go to work I noticed my mail box partial open. I was not concerned because I do not leave mail in my box. Steve happened to be off of work Friday. I called him about 7:30 a.m to let him know to keep his eye opened. I got home around 11:30 am and Steve said you just missed it, the cops had a guy on a bike going through his bag and talking to him. This guy may or may not have been one stealing the mail. It made Steve and I very proud that we live in this neighborhood and our little community is taking action.''

Break in
The guy on the bike was probably not the guy that broke into the house on Mollera. I called the cops on this guy and the house broken into was my next door neighbor. The police told me that it was probably kids and/or someone that came over the wall behind the house. They think this because only small items were taken. The rear door was broken into by someone ramming into it, not a crowbar. The frame was heavily damaged from the force of the break in. I was off work that day, my dogs never barked while I was home and I never heard a thing. (I was gone for about 20 mins all day). I feel bad for them.
