One of our residents (maybe more, but this is all I know) had mail stolen
from her mailbox. The police picked up a woman they caught going thru our
neighborhood where the RED flags were raised on mailboxes and stealing
outgoing mail.
She had taken checks that were for payments, took down account numbers and
then forged the names on that account for withdrawals. She had withdrawn a
total of $800 with those forged checks from just one account.
The Gilbert Police finally caught the woman, so ours was obviously not the
only neighborhood affected.
We may want to reconsider HOW bills are mailed after this incident, as it
certainly is not the first. It is, however, the first that has actually
been CAUGHT out of our neighborhood that I am aware of.
