I received a message from Karen Hubbard who provides us with our crime stats on a monthly basis, which Jerri Pennington posts on our website.
Karen is asking if breaking those crimes down by date - time - incident -street (no actual house address) may
be beneficial to us. I told her YES! This way, we can see if there is a
pattern ... a problem street ... an area perhaps.
Don't let the following statistics scare you - just PROTECT what you own. There are SOOOO many ways we can do this - locks - clubs - garage doors closed - alarms - don't leave packages in view, etc.
This statement may be incorrect, but I believe I read somewhere that Mesa is the #1 city in the nation for car thefts. If someone else has heard differently - please post it here. I have also heard about the police ''trap'' cars, where they plant a car with a video. Again, if someone knows more about this - please post it.
Keep in mind that in these crime stats, the time is the time reported -- not the time the incident occurred. These are for January 1 through March 25, 2004.
