Dead cats

Posted in: Marlborough Mesa
In the last week 4 dead adult feral cats have been found on Peralta. All have been picked up by Animal Control. Given the state they were in before they were found it is possible that someone is poisoning them. I am attempting to rescue any others I have seen since the dead cats were found. If there is someone doing this and you read this posting, PLEASE STOP.

I have seen no recent posting of damage caused by cats so I can only assume the cats did something minor. This kind of action suggests that you are being mean to animals irrespective of what they may have done. I have contacted AzCats about doing the spay/neutering. I will be taking any cats I can catch in about 3 weeks to have this done at a very reasonable cost.

Again if someone is doing this PLEASE STOP. If I find out that this is true as well as who and evidence of it, I will pursue whatever legal action is possible with the local police.

If anyone wants to assist me with the capture of these animals please respond to this posting.

Thanks....

Dead Cats

I am with Mike on this. If we find out who is doing this, I will help him with the full extent of the law. We have a feral cat that had kittens that were all adopted. She is neutered and has her ear clipped. She is a very beautiful siamese cat that I feed and take care of every day. She will not let me pet her, but we love her just the same.

Any cruelty to animals and people is a horrible thing.

I will keep my eyes on our neighborhood, but now I worry they will hurt my momma cat.
Disease?

A year or so ago there was a number of dad cats found here and it was determined that it was a disease that was spread by food being left out for cats. This could very well be the case again.
We have a cat which we keep indoors. I can tell you that feral cats and other neighbors cats have been a problem for us (not rising to the penalty of poisoning!). They prowl late at night and early morning setting my cat off and waking the house. They use my front and backyard as their litter box (as well as my bbq cover and my daughters sand box).
But hey, thats life in the big city. I looked into this feral cat program a while back after we were overrun by cats. I'm not sold on it in the sense that I dont believe that by fixing and caring for the ones here - that it keeps other feral cats from coming in and eating the food that people leave out. Leaving food out = good intention - but I believe compounds the problem).
Just my thoughts.

Disease Vs Poisoning

We have rescued feral kittens from this neighborhood only to have them die of a disease called Panleukopenia. It is similar to dog Parvo. It is a horrible disease where their Central Nervous System shuts down. It looks extremely painful. Animal control may not be aware our neighborhood has had problems with the virus in the past.

Poisoning is also possible though...
