Dear Neighbors,

Joan Wiebe, one of our residents, came upon an accident whereby an elderly gentleman who rides a burgundy 4 wheel independent go cart or moped rider with a basket in front (not Danny on Pecos) who was hit at Guadalupe and Extension. This happened about 5:30 pm today and the man is now in the hospital in very bad condition. We do not even know his condition or his name but need to find this out. Please pass the word, as everyone does not have email. He was taken to Banner Samaritan on Dobson. You can call Joan at 602-380-4659. She will get the information to the hospital. We are counting on someone knowing who this gentleman is. You can also post here.

Accident - found John Zeller

Below is a message from Joan Wiebe. She and another neighbor took their evening searching for who this man was, as the police and hospital were not even aware. He had no identification on him at the time of the accident.

Just to update and thank our Marlborough Mesa Neighbors for coming together ?….

Unfortunately, tonight one of our neighbors that uses a scooter to get around ?– John Zeller was hit at the intersection of Extension & Guadalupe at approximately 5:10 p.m. Our family happened to come upon the accident ?– and recognized the scooter.

Thank Goodness for Alma Jones that she put out the alert ?– one of our dear neighbors came forward and helped identify him. John is currently in Critical Condition at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital ?– Osborn ?– he has sustained injuries throughout his body and has much blood on the brain.

I journeyed our neighborhood asking neighbors ?– thank you for all being so friendly. I enjoyed a quick visit with our very hospitable Alma Jones that coordinates from the goodness of her heart. And I met a terrific NEW neighbor attempting to track down a man that we only knew as ?“John?”. A very lonely man with no other family and few friends. A man that had a horrific accident. We visited 3 hospitals ?– in Mesa, Phoenix & Scottsdale before we found him and due to the HIPA Laws we were lucky we could then even visit him for a few short minutes.

Honestly, he is a very very injured man and needs a miracle ?– a prayer, good thoughts, blessings or whatever you believe in.

PLEASE attempt to get to know you neighbors ?– NOT just for safely sake ?– but for NEIGHBORS safety ?– what happens to our elderly ?– especially IF we have not seen them in a day or two. I learned tonight - John Zeller was a part of the military and met his wife in this manner. He lost his wife last December. He was a very lonely man. He does not have much family that we are aware of.

I am to blame and just as busy as the next ?– but what a wake up call. One of our neighbors may die tonight and we really did NOT even know him, but to nod or just say hi. I don?’t have any answers ?– maybe our block watches would be better served if we just took the time to visit ?– especially our elderly that live alone.
