Marlborough Mesa

Since the weather is beautiful, we all tend to open our doors. Do be careful.

An incident happened late Sunday night, Oct. 15th on Obispo. This is what I know so far from the people who live there:

Their back doors were open with just the screens in place when she noticed from the living room someone outside looking in. That person could see no one but her. Fortunately, her fiance was in the next room and was a police officer. They caught him on the patio and held him at gunpoint until Mesa Police arrived VERY soon afterward.

The owners told me what they knew -- which was that the suspect had been released from prison after serving 3 1/2 years for armed robbery and now resides in or close to a sex offenders home/apts. in Mesa.

He was bald-headed, had tatoos all over and had no shirt on at the time.

I know they can only hold him for a short time on trespassing charges.

I have called the police department to find out more details -- the officers who would know are in a meeting at this time.

Check back -- as I find out more details -- I will put the information here.

I also checked on OUR website the Sex Offender site to see if any of the pictures posted fit the description the people on Obispo had given and they do not.

Alma and neighbors,
Each month I've been walking door to door handing out information. When I went around Fri. and Sat. I noticed the same situation occuring. Now that the weather is nice a lot of doors were either open fully or with just a screen. As I walked up to some of these doors a dog might bark or someone would come after the bell rang. On a few occasions I rang a bell and heard people, but they were not paying attention to the doorbell. I just hope everyone will be safe and watch their doors carefully. I'm glad the folks on Obispo had the benefit of one being a police officer.

Alma, Thank you so much for posting this important safety information, I will pass along this info to my neighbors that do not have internet access!! (and get up and call my husband and ask for metal locking screen doors!!)
