I got my mail today just after the mailman delivered it. Our mailbox is an older one that will fall open if it's not closed tightly. After I got the mail, I closed it very tightly.
I was surprised that when we got home our mailbox was hanging open, as was our neighbors - and every house up and down the street on the West side.
This seems to indicate that somebody is messing with our mailboxes again.
It's easy to see why our street (Emerson) is especially vulnerable. There are usually few or no vehicles parked along the curb and someone could simply drive from house to house and have another person jump out and check for mail, two boxes at a time.
We all need to watch for this type of criminal. If you see something suspicious, get a plate number or something. It may be the resident driving up and checking their mail, or it might be a mail thief...
