My Shiloh Shepherd puppy, Udo, and I are in training to become a search and
rescue team with MarK-9. MarK-9 is one of the Maricopa County Sherriff's possees. The work we do is all volunteer. Udo and I are just beginning our SAR training, but hope to eventually be certified to find both live lost persons and cadavers. The training and certification process for a puppy takes about two years. I need some young people to help us out by serving
as a victim (lost person) two or three times a week during our weekday morning
training sessions. These training sessions will take place M-F in one of
the parks in our neighborhood, between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. Part of the training
will involve the victim hiding and then playing with Udo or feeding him
treats after Udo makes his ''find'' and then shows me where the victim is
located/hiding. Although Udo is only 10 months old and still a puppy, he is
a Shiloh Shepherd which is a large breed dog. I need volunteers that are
responsible, interested in dogs and dog training, able to follow instructions, and not afraid to play with a dog that is gentle, but gigantic. ;) Ideally, I would like one or two people who are very interested in dog training and would like to participate on a long term basis. All young people who wish to participate must have parental permission; parents are welcome to come and watch and/or help out. If you are interested, please contact me at home
