Who would have imagined that a little subdivision that decided amongst them
selves that they wanted to have an alternative to their cable provider could bring a national company to take notice? Well we did.

Eight months ago we started to ask around the various cable providers to see what they offered in our area and what was necessary to bring them down
here. US West hadn't even gotten an agreement with the city and Cox told us
they wouldn't upgrade us until late 2001 or early 2002. Cable America
listened to us and upgraded their existing line north of Marlborough Mesa
and brought us state of the art Internet and cable service. They were
terrific in the way they cleaned up after themselves in the construction
phase and offered us a great deal to change from Cox.

Well guess what? Cox has had so many requests to cancel service here that
they are now upgrading this area ahead of plan. While I think this is too
little too late, competition is good. Cox has as much right to be here as
Cable America.

We made them take notice of our little homeland. Great job. I guess the
squeaky wheel does get oiled.
RE: Who da thought?

Contrary to some beliefs, Cox Communications is not obligated to upgrade the existing cable infrastructure within the City of Mesa as previously reported. The franchise commitment with Mesa does not dictate a rebuild by a certain date. Rather, Cox is nearing the first stages of the upgrade in Marlborough Mesa in an attempt to remain competitive. Additionally, Cox has not decided to start in this area due to ''so many requests to cancel service.'' Cox's intentions were to complete this area back in '98 but many unforeseen delays have pushed us back to this point today. These issues need to be clarified so you and your neighbors don't rely on information that has been passed through the grapevine. Stay tuned for more postings about Cox's upgrade and an invitation to a gathering to discuss these intitiatives.

Cox

It does seme funny that Cox decides to come in here after Cable America. Every time we tried to contact Cox, and were placed on hold for twenty minutes, they told us they would not be here until late 2001. Every time we got one of Cox cards in the mail offering the new service and called the designated number, we were told Cox would not be here until late 2001. Not much to misunderstand there.
