We live on Posada, but understand that this was heard much farther than our street. It sounded like shots fired.
Long story short - police were called ... one time ... two times. They came.
What they found is that it was ''firecrackers'' from Mexico. LARGE firecrackers - very LARGE - the size of a large flashlight. It happened around Peralta, Extension and Posada.
