Habitat for Humanity is building a home in Mesa at 1158 W. Emerald, on
Alma School and Emerald (between 8th and Southern). The home if for Ralph
and Dottie Luke. They started on December 4, 2004, and got the frame up.
They need volunteers to help them build it. Habitat provides supervisors on
site, and volunteers need only be 16 years old (18 to get on ladders). They
want to build this house in 17 weeks. It is really a fun opportunity for a
neat project. Often volunteers do cleaning or yard work, but this is an
opportunity to build a home for a very nice couple.

Habitat has a volunteer coordinator that needs to know when you want to
volunteer (Becca - 602-268-9022). Call her directly to volunteer or to get
a group scheduled to volunteer.

When you call Becca to volunteer, be sure to say your time goes to the Luke
family, who will be living in this house once it's complete. I have been
doing a lot of work with Habitat on a home in Phoenix, and I am learning a
lot and it really is a lot more fun than I had anticipated.
