Please talk with and remind your children about what to look for when they are arriving home from school.
**If you notice a broken window in the front of the house or if the door jam has been tampered with, they should not enter the home. (A burglar could still be there.) Instruct them to go to a neighbors home (where an adult is
present) and call the police department (and then their parents).
**If a person unknown to you rings the doorbell, don't open the door.
**If you enter your home and a stranger is there, get out as quickly as possible and get to a ''safe'' place. (Hopefully a neighbor). Call the police and provide as detailed a description of the intruder as possible.
**Don't try to fight an intruder.
**If you have a dog, leave him indoors. He may warn you of someone at the door or window.
**If children are arriving home and notice an unknown vehicle parked in front of their house or in the driveway, when there should be no one at home, instruct them to walk past the home and to a ''safe'' place and call the police (and then their parents).
