At about 9:45 pm a black Avalanche Escalade, AZ plate: NTSKERD, raced down Emerson about 20 over the speed limit, in the rain with no regard to anyone (often people walking dogs, or just walking this time of night).
We had just pulled into our driveway and gotten out of our truck when we heard the truck round the corner from Guadalupe and proceeded to watch it race past us, gaining speed the whole way.
I yelled ''Slow Down!'' and the driver tapped their brakes...likely because they heard something, but as fast as they were going I doubt they made out what I said.
I got back into my truck and went after the speeding truck which turned left on Plata. They parked at a funny angle at the house at 856 Plata and went inside. I pulled up and got the plate number so I could post the info here.
There was a Dateline special on tonight about people speeding through residential neighborhoods. Many people each year are injured and/or killed by speeding drivers in residential neighborhoods...mostly children.
It is really sad when people who live in the neighborhood don't show any respect for the safety of their own neighbors...
