Cancel those checks!
IF a woman stopped by solicting donations for the ''United States Mission,'' that ''provides support for domestic violence,'' it most likely is a scam.
It sounded fishy, so I did some research and found the information below.
This happened Friday at approximately 6:35 pm. link farther down.
July 2005
ARIZONA.
A Mesa resident posed as a worker for a nonprofit religious group and went door-to-door collecting $5 checks. The police allege the individual took the $5 checks and turned them into $50 checks and cashed them for himself. The individual claimed to be representing the United States Mission, a group which helps domestic violence victims. He has been charged with criminal conduct by local police.
