MM Neighbors,
It is a little long - but please read below and respond, if possible. We have a great opportunity as a neighborhood here. What we could do with $200,000 - I am not sure. But I AM SURE that YOU have ideas.

Bank of America Charitable Investments
Neighborhood Excellence Initiative
Program Overview
The Neighborhood Excellence Initiative was developed in response to what
Bank of America's community partners told them was needed to support their
neighborhoods -- operating support and capacity building for non-profit
organizations, recognition for community leaders and opportunities for
young people to serve their neighborhoods.
In reinforcing our commitment to Higher Standards for our neighborhoods,
Neighborhood Excellence was designed to recognize, nurture and reward
organizations, local heroes and student leaders in our communities who are
committed to doing the right thing to help their neighborhoods achieve
excellence. Three distinct programs will be the cornerstones for the
Neighborhood Excellence Initiative:
Neighborhood Builders - Funding and leadership
training to two neighborhood non-profit organizations working to promote
vibrant neighborhoods - $100,000 annually for two years.
Local Heroes - Recognize and honor five
individuals whose achievements and leadership on local issues contributes
significantly to neighborhood vitality. Recipients will receive $5,000
contributions to direct to the qualified non-profit of their choosing.
Student Leaders - Sponsor five paid summer
internships for local junior or senior high school students. Internships
will be sponsored at local community non-profit organizations.
Program Highlights
1. Phoenix Giving Focus - Grant &
application requests in the areas of Affordable Housing, Financial
Literacy, and Workforce Development will be considered.
2. Operating Expenses - Funds from this
program CAN be used for core operating support.
3. Leadership Training-In addition to
$200,000 ($100,000 annually for two years) in grant funding, each selected
organization will be invited to send its senior executive and one of its
emerging leaders to participate in a specially designed leadership
development program.
4. Additional Grants - Receiving funds
from this program does NOT preclude your organization from obtaining
additional grant support from the Bank of America Foundation.
Application Deadline: July 31, 2004
