One that we may want to ''have our say'' in how and where that money will be spent ... our streets ... upgrading our lighting both on the streets and in the park. Feb. 9 Special meeting of Mesa 2025: Financing the Future citizen committee
The public will have an opportunity to comment on the City of Mesa's
financial future at a special meeting of the Mesa 2025: Financing the
Future citizen committee. The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., Feb. 9
in the Lower Council Chambers, 57 E. 1st St.
Mesa's Mayor and City Council appointed the 16-member committee last
year to make recommendations on possible changes to the way City services are funded, to address financial challenges and look at levels of service the City provides for the community over the next 20 years. The committee has been meeting twice a month since February 2004 to learn more about City operations and financial processes. Members have heard presentations from every department, toured City facilities, and benchmarked Mesa's services with other local communities and comparable cities nationwide.
You may feel that Mesa's taxes are already too high, and that cutting
should be even deeper. On the other hand, you may feel that services have
been cut too severely, and that revenues need to be found to support
remaining services and improve others. You may be pleased in the progress
that has been made in improving the quality of life in Mesa, and that even
more should be done.
Whatever your thoughts on these issues please come to the meeting on
February 9 and express them.
