I just received a phone call from a neighbor. The North Side of Portobello Ave. had mail stolen from the mailboxes. Just like the incident on Emerson,on the 20th and 25th, all of the mailboxes were open along the street.
This is a very scary trend in the neighborhood! What can we as neighbors do to stop this crime? |

safety committee
shouldn't this be addressed with the safety committee? maybe they can come up with an alternative solution. this problem has been around for many years - mine was stolen 6 years ago, causing many problems and late fees for bills that never made it to the right place on time. |

Isn't postal theft a federal crime? Tax return checks are starting to show up. Has the post office been notified? |

Absolutely
Yes on both counts Suzanne. I talked with the postal carrier this morning and they have been reported. Also the police. The postman also told me that along with what they have and are doing in our neighborhood (and our neighbors to the east), there was a cluster mailbox that was picked/pried open just yesterday on Country Club just south of Guadalupe near the service station. They got a ton of mail in one swoop! |
