After reviewing the police report concerning the assault with a deadly weapon incident which occurred just before midnight on New Year's eve, we now have the correct information: A white male who was carrying a gun and mace was upset about all of the fireworks going off in the area, so he approached a group of people who were sitting outside in their driveway at their home on the east side of Extention (600 W. block). The man began to yell at them to stop all of the fireworks and stated that he would shoot them if they did not stop the fireworks. The people noticed he had a gun in his hand began to walk over to him and he backed up and began walking toward Extension. They followed him and along the way he continued to threaten to shoot them. At one point he sprayed the mace at one of the men. They ended up at 827 West Peralta where he put the gun and mace down. Another individual picked up the weapons in order to keep them away from him. The police arrived and arrested him for assault with a deadly weapon. It appears that this incident did not originate in Marlborough Mesa, however, the parties involved ended up at the address on Peralta after chasing this man to that point. The man had not been drinking or using drugs, he stated that he was just mad because of all of the fireworks going off and decided to go find out who was setting them off. The fireworks were
not occurring at the home where
he approached the individuals sitting
in their driveway. He also stated that he did not intend to hurt anybody.
