Alma asked me to post this.  Looks like good stuff.  Win win.

Good Evening Everyone,

What an incentive to recycle!  After Mesa was chosen to participate in this innovative program, there were 6 neighborhoods chosen - one in each District.  We were the lucky ones from District 3.

By now, most all of the blue barrels in Marlborough Mesa have been "stickered" underneath the lid with the address that matches your home.  You have probably also received your activation code from the City of Mesa and the RecycleBank.

Andy Keels on Osage has talked with the city of Mesa's Recycle Bank coordinator and this is what he tells us:

"Up until now the city of Mesa actually charged people a small fee to participate in the city's recycle program.  The Recycle Bank program will change that by actually paying participants to recycle.  The more you recycle the more it pays you back!  Please be aware you are not automatically enrolled.  Once your blue barrel is tagged you will have to call the number or sign up online to enroll/register your blue barrel."

I have just registered with RecycleBank and did get the 40 bonus points for registering before June 30.  Whenever you log onto your account - you can see week by week just how much of a difference you are making to help our planet.  It keeps a log and shows how many trees and oil YOU have saved.
