Last Tuesday night, one of our pet cats was injured. According to the vet, someone shot him with a pellet gun at close range, hitting one of his lungs and his liver. We figure that he panicked and ran into the street trying to get home, because he was also hit by a car. Thankfully he will survive. We have also had two other cats go missing in the last six months. I'm hoping that we don't have a person who would do such a thing living in our neighborhood. I know that strays can be pests, but it's difficult to keep collars on some cats. They have the smarts to get them off. We use buckle style dog collars on ours.
Anyway, please keep an eye out. The weather is getting nicer, and I know that our family is not the only one that likes to go on bike rides or walks in the evening. If you see anyone mistreating animals, please contact the authorities. No pet deserves this kind of treatment and neither do the children who love them.
