At about 10:48 last night (Sat) - just after some rain - we heard a light knocking on our door.  We didn't open it, but I looked out and saw a woman walking away (appearing a bit drunk by her walk).  I waited a minute and went out the door.  She had gone South on Emerson and was two driveways away.  I assumed she was going to walk up to their door as well, but to my surprise she went to the passenger side of our neighbor's truck and tried both handles...and peeked in the truck bed.

I crossed the street to get a better view of what she was doing.  She walked back out of their entryway and headed South again.  She saw me and looked my way...even shrugged her shoulders as if to ask what I wanted.  Then she turned and headed South again.  She walked up to a couple more entryways, but left vehicles alone.  She seemed irritated that I was watching her and before I knew it she just kept walking South...not approaching any more homes.

All the while - she appeared drunk...staggering left and right as she walked.

When I lost sight of her, I went back to our house and grabbed my wife.  We locked up and headed South in our truck.  Not sure of where she went we drove up and down streets.  We saw another neighbor out in front of his house on the phone...scanning the street (we assume he might have called the cops about her).

We ended up near the park and as we were about to give up she came walking toward us on Mollera.

Long story short we got a good description of her, called Mesa PD, followed her South on Alma School, got transferred to Chandler PD, and stayed in the area until a squad car pulled up to her and the officer got out and started talking with her.

She was white, very young (possibly 15-17), appeared to have a tattoo on one thigh, was wearing purple shorts and a black hoodie, dirty blonde/brown hair, and was wearing eyeglasses.

Just before the officer arrived she was walking South, often in the bike lane or almost in traffic...with her thumb out as if hitching a ride.  Walking South and hitching from Northbound traffic?  Uh yeah.

Hopefully it was nothing  insidious and she was either a runaway or drunk/lost and the police can help her.  Worst case she had warrants or was up to know good and the officer determined that and arrested her.

Whew.  Busy night.

Ugh.  Very tired.  I meant up to "no" good.  ;o)

Thank you for being so diligent!  Few people would "look out for their neighborhood" as you did.  We appreciate you.
