As one of the neighbors with a dog accused of barking, may I offer suggestions from the other side? My dogs do not bark when we are home, so if they are nervous when we aren't home and bark, how do we know unless we get told? We have a doggy door so that when we are at work for a long period our dogs can go in and out. Rather then being a friendly neighbor and saying "hey is there anything you can do about your dog's barking", we received a notice from the city. So I went out and purchased bark collars to try and curb the barking. I thought everything was working out better and then received another letter from the city. If I don't know it is happening I can't do anything about it, so perhaps instead of continually calling the city you could come talk to me. I don't like to hear dogs barking anymore then the next person so I will do what is neccessary to remedy it.
I will mention that it doesn't help when my dogs are in their yard being teased by cats walking the fence, of course they will bark. And for the neighbors that complain about the barking dogs to get their trees trimmed at 6 am seems rather hypocritical to me.
