Ridiculous "Temporary Tow Away Zone"

No notice of any upcoming construction.  Leaving the house this morning in a perfectly timed routine to get my wife to work on time, as we do every day.  Only this morning some street work is going to be done on the street perpendicular to us, so some construction genius puts orange cones on either side of our car, which is legally  parked on the street in front of our home. with printed signs declaring "Temporary Tow Away Zone - No Parking."  So we had to play musical cars and she was a few minutes late to work for the first time ever - in over a 22 year period.  Not a great start for any morning.  Makes me wonder about the legality of it - what if I had just left our car there?  Would they have towed our car?  Seriously - zero notice and they just prop up some cones around a legally parked car?  What if we had been out and not back until later in the day?  I think I am going to go have a discussion with the construction "boss" when I get home today.  Unacceptable to do this in our neighborhood, IMHO.

Couldn't agree more. Got up this AM to a sign in the street in front of my driveway saying street closed. No warning at all. I'll call the City, this is unacceptable.

Good to hear that it wasn't just me.

Came home looking to seek out a construction "boss" only to find all signs of the impromptu street closure had vanished.

Sent an email to the Mayor, Vice-Mayor, City Manager, and Transportation.  Not expecting it to make much of a difference, but your voice cannot be heard unless you speak up in situations like this.

There is now a sign warning of future street sealing which says to look for notices.  Hopefully someone already got their butt handed to them over this fiasco.

6-23-15 from Bill Nichols (800 block of Posada)

Last week we received a door hanger that informed us that our street would be resealed on June 23rd.  It said the usual things about no parking, etc.

That morning I moved one of our cars to Pampa Ave.  I noticed that the street was blocked at the intersection of Pampa and Posada, and then at 910 W Posada Ave.  It appeared that they were only going to reseal about 1/3 of the block. A few minutes later they came by and put a seal over the manhole cover in front of our house.. Then nothing again until about 2:00 pm when they took the barricades down. No resealing ever happened, and no explanation as to why.
