As the park has had the recent construction of the children's playground equipment, it has been determined that the location of the civil defense siren is no longer located in an appropriate area. Kailua Neighborhood Board Report - Jim Corcoran reported that the November, 2001 KNB meeting of the Board approved a motion to not place Kapaa Quarry Phase I on the landfill site for evaluation. The Environment committee of the KNB is submitting an additional motion to take Kapaa Quarry Phase I off the list of potential landfill sites and keep it off (it has been determined that a list does exist that contains this site). It was motioned that the MCA address a letter to the KNB supporting the removal of Kapaa Quarry Phase I from the list of potential landfill sites and to keep it permanently off such a list. Motion carried unanimounsly.
Representative Pendelton's new community representative is Corin Ching and Ms. Ching will be attending MCA and KNB meeting. She may be reached at Cell: 372-2953 or Fax: 545-3080 and will be added to the MCA MUSE list for mailing. It was noted that Steve Holmes intentions after this term with as City Councilmember will not seek elected office. He will be available to his family due to a chronic illness. Senate house Resolution # 27 and Resolution # 46 encompasses Employee Retirement Systems. Rep. Pendelton will keep eyes and ears on these investment systems and taxes to fund them. Matching dollars or raising the cap are the issues at this time. It was requested by the MCA that Rep Pendelton make sure the O.I.P not be cut from the State Budget as has been reported recently. The MCA prefers the fund for hurricane disaster be kept complete and not be used in State General Operating or returned to the tax payers of the fund. It was queried if the shortfall is real or was it a carryover from last year in a paper balancing of the State Budjet at that time.
There being no further business of the MCA the meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
