Regular Meeting
February 6, 2001, 7:00 p.m. at 1002 Lunaai Place
Present: Jim Corcoran, Lynda Dybdal, Rose Faria, Ed Gomes, Suzy Hemmings, Rachael Hyland (Representative Pendleton's paid informant), Barbara Locricchio, Joan Riggs, Annette Shipman, Linda Ure.
I. Call To Order : 7:05 p.m.
II. Minutes were approved as corrected.
III. Old Business
A. Weinberg Foundation: Discussion on the purchase of Luana Hills Golf Course(s) and adjacent land (1085 acres) by Weinberg Foundation December 29, 2000; HRT Ltd new status as a non-profit; Mr. Dornbush as representative of the Weinberg Foundation; Councilmember Homles and the City & County of Honolulu in relation to Bill 100 in committee to purchase all land except the Golf Course Land(s) for Kailua Regional Park. Mr. Dornbush had agreed to attend the Regular Monthly Meeting of the Maunawili Community Association on February 6, 2001, however, became unable to attend upon receipt of the MCA confirmation letter of January, 23 2001. Further, the MCA Board was informed that the Kailua Neighborhood Board has invited the Weinberg Foundation, or its representatives, to appear before the Kailua Neighborhood Board March 1, 2001, at 7:00 p.m., at Kailua District Park to address the recent purchase of the Luana Hills Golf Course(s) and adjacent lands by Weinberg Foundation and future plans for that purchase. It is suggested that Councilmember Steve Holmes to attend the 2001 Annual Meeting of the MCA with an update on City & County plans as related to Bill 100. It is hoped that Weinberg Foundation will attend the 2001 Annual meeting of the MCA and discuss their plans for the Golf Course(s) Land. Motion: Lynda Dybdal will contact Councilmember Steve Holmes to request Weinberg Foundation, or its representatives to appear before the Kailua Neighborhood Board, March 1, 2001, at 7:00 p.m., at Kailua District Park, along with Mayor Harris, or his representative, and Councilmember Steve Holmes in a show of support for the Maunawili Community Association, to brief the Kailua Neighborhood Board on the recent purchase of the Luana Hills Golf Course(s), and adjacent lands, by Weinberg Foundation December 29, 2000, that had been placed on the City & County Facilities Map in April, 2000 for the purpose of a Regional Park and for Councilmember Steve Holmes, and Mayor Harris, then attend the Maunawili Community Association Annual Meeting, March 6, 2001, at 7:00 p.m., at Trinity Church on Auloa Road, to brief the community on said plans of Weinberg Foundation and the City & County of Honolulu for the purchase, and / or re-purchase, of the Luana Hills Golf Course(s) and adjacent lands that had been placed on the City & County Facility Map for the purpose of a Regional Park for Windward. Motion passed unanimously. Signs will be posted on the community bulletin boards that Golf Course(s) Land will be discussed at the annual meeting.
B. Committee Reports:
Traffic: Auloa Road is stacking for left turns from Kailua Road to Luana Hills Road and DTS should conduct a study of the light sequence. Reminder, use your turn signal to bear left at junction of Auloa Road and Maunawili Road. Joggers and Walkers are in the middle of the road early in the mornings. Suggest reflective apparel be worn for this. Razor Boards should remain out of the streets. Speed limit in residential area is 25 mph.

Signs will be placed on MCA bulletin Board announcing Annual meeting and the upcoming elections.
D. Treasurers Report: Balance of account is $1,913.35. Reimbursement $82.83 for Muse postage was made.
E: Report on KNB: The next Kailua Neighborhood Board meeting is March 1, 2001.
Planning and Development: HBO movie folks, Jim Tripplet, was unavailable this month for our meeting. A water useage permit has been requested for the State agricultural land used as a HBO village for the movie.
IV. New Business: Trinity Church School: In keeping with residential aesthetics, signage at Trinity Church School should remain discrete in accordance with good-neighbor-policy. Traffic during drop-off and pick-up of children remains difficult. Motion: Lynda Dybdal will contact Nancy Shaw about these matters. Motion passed, 5 yea, 1 nay.
