Regular Meeting Minutes
November 6, 2001
Maunawili Valley Neighborhood Park

Call To order at 7:10 p.m. by Ed Gomes President
Present: James Corcoran, Ed Gomes, Linda Ure
Old Business:
Municipal Landfill at Kapaa Quarry: Jim Corcoran presented a report on Kapaa Quarry as a municipal landfill and the Board voted 11 to 1 to oppose a landfill at Kapaa Quarry. Phase I has 5-7 more years of quarry use and Phase II will require Phase I to hold the water for its continued operations until 2052. Kapaa Quarry Road is being looked into for acquisition by the City for realignment.
CIP 2003: The CIP budget was approved for the KNB and within the motions approved was a "mini Skate park" for Maunawili Valley Neighborhood Park. Such a mini park is now being constructed at Kailua District Park.
Maunawili Valley: Old and New: Vegetation is now growing on the Stender property on the filled hillside. It is reported that a halua will not be build at this time, only mowing of the lower section. 2) the property at 970 Auloa Road has sold.
Treasurers Report: November 6, 2001: Previous balance as of September 30, 2001 was $3,378.20. Income from Dues and Donations was $30.00. There were no expenses paid in the month. The balance as of October 31, 2001 is $3,408.20. The total dues collected for this year, as of October 30, 2001 is from 137 families and the total Donations collected this year, as of October 30, 2001 is 43 families. The Budgeted Fund Balance is $2,160.95 and the Donations Funds Balance is $1,247.25, totaling $3.408.20.
Halloween Report: Ed Gomes reported the following: 1) As in passing years, this years Halloween parade and festivity continued our MCA traditions and brought our community together, during these adverse times. Georgette and I would like to thank the MCA board, past and present, and our community members and volunteers for their help and guidance in putting together this event. Next year's parade and function will be better, now that we know the flow and can better anticipate the event. 2) We distributed 57 goodie bags and have 18 left for next year. Refreshments provided were 36 cupcakes, 1 chocolate Bundt cake, and 4 dozen cookies along with 5 gallons of juice. We still have paper goods left for the next event. 3) The Pumpkin carving contest was won by David and Mary Leandro for Most Uniquely Carved. William and Carol Loose also won for Scariest. We will present them with movie tickets for their efforts. 4) The cost for the event was $112.38, to include advertising, batteries, goodies, juices and ice. 5) Ed Gomes reported that he will do the Halloween Event next year.
