NHW MEETING FEB.1 SUMMARY

Subject: Neighborhood Watch meeting Feb. 1st

Hi Neighbors,
These were the things discussed Feb.1st. Lt. Leidholdt and another officer were able to answer a lot of our questions.

Lt. Leidholdt told us that the minor vandalism that we are experiencing is thru out Tampa Palms. If we see something report it immediately by calling 231-6130. Insist that they send out an officer even if it's only minor property damage. This way the officers will be on the lookout for other instances.Often times they have been able to catch the culprits this way.

There has been a lot of overnight parking on the dead-end on Abbey Park. The police will be ticketing this.

A Mayfair speed study was held on Friday Dec. 2nd and showed that the majority of the residents are doing 25 and 30 mph. However, 32 drivers were doing 35 mph and up and 3 drivers were doing 40 mph and up. 85 % of the drivers were doing 31mph.Since we have done everything we can to get the speeding stopped the police will now use radar to clock the speeds and ticket if necessary. If you would like to receive a copy of the speed study notify me.

People asked if we would be safer if Mayfair was a gated community. Lieut. Leidholdt responded by saying that they don't see any difference in crime whether you are gated or not.

Remember the noise and helicopters flying over last month? The mystery has been solved. Lt.Leidholdt informs us one of the subdivisions and golf courses has hired a professional to trap / kill wild boar that are damaging landscaping. The gunshots that we heard were really gunshots!!! They use the helicopter to pinpoint where the boar and hunter are!! They did get a boar.

Conversation on the McGruff or safe house was deemed to be not necessary. Most of the neighbors who have children felt that they had already made arrangements with their neighbors in the event of a problem. Mayfair has become very good at helping each other out.

The damage to our entrance and Club Tampa Palms was discussed at the meeting with the Board of Directors of Tampa Palms North. The Board is looking into ways to prevent further damage to the open area by the tennis courts and the area at our entrance and measures to keep it from happening over and over again. The landscaping at the area where people turn in at The Olive Garden was discussed. That island has become so overgrown that it is difficult to see. This was two of the areas discussed on landscaping. There were a few more.

TPN next meeting is Feb. 20 and the next Neighborhood Watch meeting TBA later.

Anything else I failed to address let me know.
I hope each of you have a great week.
Ann
