The Golden Rules----Of Being a Good Neighbor

Sometimes our busy schedules means we forget the little things that make us it good neighbors. Here are a few examples:

1. Are my cars parked appropriately such as not to interfere with sidewalks and mailboxes?

2. Did I remember to put my garage door down when I'd left this morning? An open garage door is a security risk to your property.

3. Are Kitty and Spike on their own property or on a leash? Pets that are loose, not on a leash, or barking are a nuisance to others. Be a good pet owner pickup after your pets and make sure they are leashed at all times.

4. Have I brought my trashcans and recycling bins in? Trash collection days are on Wed. and Sat. mornings and recycling day is on Wed. Don't forget that trash cans can usually blow around during storm season.

5. Did I secure my lawn furniture after use? High winds and hurricanes are a way of life in Florida. Please store your personal items in the house or garage during these times. Damage from items blowing around can be costly to you and your neighbors!

6. Am I considerate of the level of noise created by my household? Are you respectful of others with your car radio in Mayfair?

7. Do you know your neighbors? When you are around your property, please take a few moments and strike up a conversation with your neighbor. A kind word goes a long way.

8. Are you obeying the speed limit in Mayfair? Always remember someone's child or pet may depend on you being a safe driver.

9. Have you taken a few minutes to welcome a new homeowner/resident into the community?

10. Do you alert others when there's a problem in the neighborhood? Please contact Jay Friedberg, Mayfair's Board President or any other board member, Susan Thomas, the Association's Community Manager from Rampart Properties, Ann Diller of the Neighborhood Watch Program or the City of Tampa Police.
