The above title and headline speak for themselves. We will be looking forward as trustee Audrey Jaycox recalls and introduces to us current Maywoodians.
Former Maywood alumni who are scattered around the country and the world, yet so many of these former Maywoodians have made their mark on the betterment of this country; Maywood should acknowledge that.
So following this preface, and coming soon, Village of Maywood Trustee and baby boomer....Ms. Audrey Jaycox will share a life time of memories as she welcomes and share outstanding & memorable Maywoodians - in a very special past! Thank you trustee Jaycox!
It's really a special honor for me to share this information with all Maywoodians. I attended Washington elementary school with Al Nuness in the 1950's. He has always been a self directed kind of guy and we all thought of Al as a good guy. In fact, I remember when Al Nuness, Ronnie Gwen, Rev.Edward Howard were household names on the basketball court, just as modern basketball as we know it, was coming into focus.
Al was always a top student, regular guy and a maywoodian original. He was the first Maywood basketball star to play in the Big Ten on T.V. as well. More importantly and a fact, this is truly unique in anyone's book.
Albert 'Al' Nuness was the first basketball player from Maywood to be drafted into the NBA.
Al is Vice President of Sports/ Sales...Jostens - 5501 American Blvd.
