ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE
The Architectural Review Committee meets the first Tuesday of every month. Any changes or improvements to the exterior of houses or landscaping need the approval of the committee. Please submit your requests to Vision Property Management prior to the meeting and obtain an Architectural Improvement Application and Review Form.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
The next meeting for the Board of Directors is scheduled for Wednesday, February 13 at 7:00 pm at The Fountains at La Cholla Retirement Community. The meeting has been changed from the second Thursday for February only to avoid conflicts with Valentine's Day. All residents are welcome to attend. If you plan on coming and have a specific concern, please notify VPM at 514-6865 prior to the meeting.
BOARD PLANS TO REPLASTER MAIN POOL
The Board of Directors voted at the January 2002 meeting to replaster the main swimming pool. It was decided that the middle of February would work best to undergo this project. The pool area will be completely inaccessible during the replastering process. The pool should be ready for swimming again by around the first of March. Security will be on hand to prevent potential vandals from damaging the plaster in the pool before it has time to dry properly.
HOW TO CONTACT THE BOARD
The best way for any homeowner to voice a concern or get in direct contact with a board member is to attend the monthly Board of Directors Meeting. The time and place are always listed in the newsletter sent out each month prior to the meeting. Visitors' concerns will be addressed at the beginning of ach meeting for their convenience. Although it is helpful for individuals to call VPM to notify them that they will be attending, homeowners are permitted to come unannounced. If a homeowner is unable to attend the meeting, they may notify VPM of their concern. Vision Property Management will then pass the information on to The Board.
BE A VALENTINE: LEARN HOW TO START A HEART
Some people hesitate to learn CPR because they're uncomfortable at the thought of using CPR on a stranger. The truth is, however, you're most likely to use CPR on a member of your immediate family. Northwest Fire/Rescue offers Basic CPR training on the second and third Thursday of each month, from 6-10 pm and Health Care Provider CPR on the second Saturday of the month, from 8 am to 1 pm. Classes are held at the Northwest Fire/Rescue Prevention Office, 1520 West Orange Grove Road. Class space is limited, and you must register in advance. There is a nonrefundable fee for each class of $12 for district residents and $17 for those living outside the district. Call 742-4749 for additional information.
Learn CPR. The life you save may belong to someone you love.

TAKE TIME TO REPORT CRIME
It is very important that homeowners report any criminal activity (including graffiti) in the neighborhood to the Sheriff's Office. What many do not realize is that this allows the police to document it. Then statistics may be taken to show which areas of the city need to be covered. If Meadowbrook reports the crimes that occur, officers will then know to patrol our neighborhood while on duty. Callers can be anonymous.
HOMEOWNERS NEEDED TO SERVE ON THE BOARD
More members are needed on the Meadowbrook Community Association Board. Members volunteer to attend a Board of Directors meeting once a month to help make decisions concerning the association. Members are nominated and voted in at the annual meeting held in April. Individuals serve on the Board for a three-year term. If you are interested in getting more involved by becoming a Board Member, please contact VPM at 514-6865.
MEADOWBROOK CRIME REPORT
Cars were broken into throughout Meadowbrook again last month. Remember to try to avoid keeping valuables in vehicles parked on the street overnight.
One homeowner reported to Patty that their KC lights were stolen off their pickup around New Year's Eve.
If you notice any criminal activity, notify the Sheriff's Office immediately at 741-4900. Following your report, please call Patty at 293-5467 to include the crime in the next issue of Meadowbrook News.
VANDALISM
Vandalism at the pool has been on the decline with help from security officers. The only incidents reported recently have been in the pool bathrooms from graffiti with blue and black sharpie markers and some occasional spray paint. It is possible that kids from Meadowbrook are doing this damage after school.
Retention areas have had some damage from vandals breaking out the bricks. The Association recently paid to have the problem areas fixed, but other bricks were soon broken out again. In January a fence was also "tagged'' with graffiti.
Each time vandalism takes place on Meadowbrook's property, it costs the Association money to repair the damages. Homeowners can help by reporting vandalism and suspicious behavior to the police department.
