The Meadowcliff Neighborhood Watch Association meeting on May 28th, 2002, was called to order by the President, Kevin Geis, at 7:05 PM.
Kevin Geis introduced special quest, Rebekah Zahn, Exec. Director of the Neighborhood Alliance. Rebekah presented a check to Pres. Geis in the amount of $50.00 for winning 2nd place in the Food Bank drive project. Our Assoc. donated 100 cans of food. First place winner was Prairie Queen Assoc. with 500 cans. A letter was received from the Food Bank thanking our Assoc. for our contribution. They advised that donations were down by 14 % since the 9-11 event. Pres. Geis suggested that we try the Food Drive project again later this year, possibly in October.
Pres. Geis gave a last minute reminder for membership dues to be paid for 2002.
The Treasurer?’s report given by Frances Mooney. The current balance is $2106.12, with $36.00 in deposits. Disbursements were $150.00 donation to Rebuilding Together in April and $106.00 to Kevin Geis for curb painting supplies. Frances reported that we have from 131-135 paid members and this did not include persons signed up for curb painting.
The Association received a letter from Rebuilding Together in April acknowledging the $150.00 donation in memory of J.D. Huffman.
Watch Patrol Chairman, Jim Nebgen, announced a new watch patrol volunteer, James Gonzales.
The crime report was given. In February, 1 assault, 1 burglary, 1 vehicle larceny and 1 narcotics. Three of these items were in the 2700 block SW 74th. In March, 1 assault, 1 burglary, 1 vehicle larceny and 1 vandalism. One of these items from the 2700 block SW 74th. In April, 1 assault, 1 Auto burglary, 1 burglary, 1 vehicle larceny and 1 vandalism. One item from 2700 block SW 74th. The complete May report will be in the July newsletter.
Kevin Geis wished to remind people that the Pre-K and Kindergarten school Enrollment is now going on at John Glenn Elementary. Please get your children enrolled as soon as possible. Kevin also announced the curb painting project has been slow due to weather factors and getting the right supplies and hopes we can get the project completed in June.
Discussion was made about making a contribution to the Capitol Hill Assembly of God Church in appreciation fro their providing the Assoc. with a meeting place and refreshments. Motion made by Roy Whittington to donate $200 to the church. Motion was seconded by Ken Johnson.
The minutes of 3/26/02 were approved as printed in the May newsletter. Calling Committee Chairman, Joy Moore, announced she needed a calling committee volunteer to replace Linda Self. Roy Whittington introduced members, C. & Betty Kernell. This was their first time to attend a meeting.
Pres. Geis presented Glenda Maxwell of the Capitol Hill Assembly. Of God Church with a check for $200.
