The Majestic Oaks of Metrowest

The Majestic Oaks of Metrowest

Many of us watched for over 10 years as these small scrub oaks grew into the majestic oaks we see everyday on our drive home. There were many discussions over the years about, "What do we do with the large circle?" Should we build a park? This large, open grass area, surrounded by the continually growing oaks had to have a purpose.

The Oaks are Moved

I can't remember the date, although I do remember the day, coming home to see the large oaks being prepared to be dug up. Many of us asked questions, and no one seemed to know, what was going on?

Methodically, each tree was prepped, a large surrounding area was excavated, and a hole was drilled through the trunk of each tree.

I, like many others assumed, there had to be a reason.

We watched closely as each tree was dug up, and carefully planted, approx 10 feet away from it's original location. An elaborate irrigation and watering system was installed and the trees were constantly being soaked in water. It seemed like the right thing to be doing.

Trying to make sense of it all

Everyone had questions and many had explanations. None seemed to have any merit or could be substantiated.

Were they being moved away from the road?

Were they organized for a big project or development?

Why were they moved?

We were all just waiting to see, figuring they must know what they are doing.
