FYI, about a project that will begin later this month, weather permitting. We have had an erosion issue in the back of the development for quite some time. Through ongoing conversations with the New Castle County Conservation district we were able to secure complete funding to have this erosion issue repaired. Total project cost is estimated to be $125,000 and will take roughly 6-8 weeks to complete. During this project you will notice heavy equipment in the development necessary to complete the repair work.
Per the Conservation District, the project involves constructing a low berm along the edge of the woods with an outlet thru a pipe under the berm and into a splash apron full of riprap (rock). This will be at three locations. The purpose is to intercept and convey runoff to a controlled outlet, eliminating the severe erosion problems that have occurred. Additionally, the repair work will utilize some of the material from the dirt piles behind the playground. After the project they will reshape the piles and seed them. Usage of this material will lower project cost and keep additional heavy trucks out of the development.
Our primary goal is to keep you informed, as we receive updates about the project we will provide them to you. If you have any questions please reach out.
