The Teaching and Helping Program is looking for individuals interested in learning basic home maintenance skills while assisting low-income families. Volunteers will work with an experienced mentor to do energy, water, and accessibility projects on the homes of low-income families.
For the next three months, Teaching & Helping is offering people the opportunity to learn to:
* Insulate and weatherize a home
* Install a low-flush toilet and other water-conserving fixtures
* Build a heavy-duty wheelchair ramp or widen a doorway for a wheelchair
* Replace old casement windows with high-efficiency windows
* Install a high-efficiency heat pump
* Upgrade an electrical service
* Add electrical circuit or install a ceiling fan
Small teams made of an experienced professional and a few trainees will engage in ONE-DAY projects on the homes of low-income families. Most projects will be on the weekend. For more information, please contact Tres English, Program Manager at 795-3413
