Neighborhood Block Parties

City of Aurora's Neighborhood Support Division

The City of Aurora's Neighborhood Support Division is sponsoring "Meet Your Neighbors" Block Parties in the summer of 2002. The block party is a wonderful way to create better relationships with your neighbors and create a stronger-knit community.

Neighbors whose block-party application has been approved by city staff will be allowed to temporarily block off their streets during the permitted block party.
Barricades are available without charge from the Neighborhood Support Division office on a first come basis with a $75 refundable deposit. After June 17th, the Neighborhood Resource Center of CO will also provide a "Party Pack" that includes ideas to strengthen neighborhoods and a $25 certificate from Safeway for paper products and ice cream.A City Neighborhood Block Permit is required if the event takes place on a public street or cul-de-sac. There is no charge for the permit, but it must be submitted to the Neighborhood Support Division at least two weeks prior to the event. For more info, call 303/739-7280, or log on to www.auroragov.org and click on Coimmunity, Neighborhood Services, Neighborhood Liasons and then Block Parties.

For smaller block parties, the Neighbor-
hood Resource Center and Safeway are offering free party supplies including ice cream, paper plates, cups, napkins and plasticwear. For more info and a copy of the form requiring signatures of two other people on your block, call NRC at 303/477-0023 or the MV messaging center at 303/753-4345.
