Meeting Minutes

In Attendance: Rick Brounstein, David Linn. Josh Shirley, Kristen Buus, Galina Grigoryan, Janet Martin, Jennifer Tamayo, Jason Hunsinger, Craig Bach, Gary Berger, Jim Murphy, Mark Hanson

7:00 pm – Introductions
7:02 pm – Officer McGuire – PPB report – reported a recent rise in auto thefts, question was asked why violent crimes aren’t listed on map, officer explained not generally included but info could be found on Portland maps.com. Informed about 57 jail beds that city/ county were able to make available. Informed about a focable eviction that took place on 84th & Alder. Officer then explained ways of preventing auto theft through the use of clubs and parking in well lit areas.
7:15 pm – Treasurer report – David Linn – still searching for adequate audio recorder
7:17 pm – Guest speaker Eliene Curtiss – Pres. of Portland Rose Society – Encouraged the planting of roses in the neighborhoods in preparation of the upcoming Ave of Roses announcement. Informed about rose growing contest specifically for the Ave of Roses. Several categories including house / business, beginner / advanced. Possible mini-rose fair at 82nd PCC. Description and tips about growing roses. Discussion of possible rose garden on Montavilla Community center grounds. Josh Shirley informed next meeting of weed / seed to be held at Vestal Elementary on 23rd.
8:04 pm – Gary Berger introduced himself as the new land-use person for SEUL – went over SEUL updates including bike trails, meeting on infill, and the Vietnamese diversity outreach meeting on 11/30 at 6:30 pm. Discussion of possible neighborhood recourses to infill including; good neighbor agreements and appealing code waivers.
8:35 pm – update of fence installed at 82nd MAX stop to stop drug use
8:36 pm – bylaws to be discussed at next meeting
8:43 pm - $200 from Brewfest to be presented to MNA at next meeting.
8:48 pm – Meetings designated; all at Touchstone Coffee House 78th & Glisan

8:51 pm – Announcement by Rick of request for volunteers for the Festival of Lights
8:53 pm – Josh Shirley gave update of foot patrols, saying still coordinating with PPB a map of what areas are covered and which are not.
8:57 pm – Meeting adjourned
