7:16 pm – Presentation on Oregon Symphony – Monica Hayes
Oregon Symphony host free concerts in many local parks, this year including Harrison Park in the Montavilla Neighborhood. The August 26th event starts at 3 pm. It will offer local performers an opportunity to showcase their talents in their communities as well as draws people in the community together in celebration of the arts. The event will also have a free concert put on by all 88 members of the Oregon symphony. A group of volunteers is requested from the neighborhood to help plan, canvass, and/or set up at the event. A short meeting for input is scheduled for June 20th, contact MNA or Oregon symphony for details. Oregon Symphony will also be hosting a general event on Waterfront park on August 31st.

- Chair Tamayo pointed out the wonderful efforts of the neighborhood clean-up, which raised approximately seven hundred dollars for the community.
7:25 pm – Outreach Committee report – Erica Cutler
- Meetings 1st Monday of every month 6:30 @ Montavilla Community Center (unless otherwise posted on website) – next meeting July 3rd. Next meeting will focus on the release of the August - November Newsletter.
- Website project is coming along, finishing details on the design and cost.
- Members of the committee attended the Friends of Trees Neighborhood organizing event, and Montavilla will be hosting a tree planting event in March of next year. Volunteers will be needed to inform neighbors of the opportunities and benefits of tree planting along the streets and then to do the actual planting.
- A new Montavilla Neighborhood Association Logo has been designed and was presented by Ramona _____.
7:29 pm – Public Safety Committee report – Chair Shirley (absent) – Craig Bach reported
- Meetings 3rd Saturday of the month – please contact Chair Shirley for time/place
- Graffiti teams sponsored by the city and high schools will be having teams scouring the neighborhood in search of graffiti. Neighborhood should assist and coordinate efforts

7:34 pm – Land-use Committee report – Sarah Selden
- 81st & Holiday developers presenting tonight
- The city bureau of Planning is holding meeting to re-design the east side MAX stations and Committee has chosen Craig Bach as representative.
- The SEUL board has approved a final budget which included staff reductions due to budget constraints.
- The School board is hosting meetings to get public feedback on the proposal to convert Binnsmead Middle School into a K-8, and Bridger elementary into a Spanish immersion school.
7:40 pm – Academy Theater is up and running, but facing outrageous advertising costs –
support your local theater!

7:43 pm – Craig Bach mentioned his continued efforts to craft neighborhood agreements with local convenience stores, in an effort to get them to stop carrying small novelties that a frequently converted for drug-use. The plan involves formal requests and public awareness campaigns.

7:48 pm – SEUL update from Afifa –
- Leadership training is coming up on June 24th 9am @ SEUL
- The City has passed a lobby law that has included neighborhood associations in having to document lobbying efforts of their citizen members. SEUL has requested a letter to the city council asking for exemption for NA’s. Issue will be debated at the MNA board meeting.

8:05 pm – PSU capstone project on Montavilla resource mapping –
- Students from PSU completed 25 surveys in the neighborhood concerning community involvement between businesses, non-profits, and other community organizations. Results showed a community rich in activities and organizations, but not much coordination or communication. Many do not now the others exist.
8:34 pm – 81st & Holiday development presentation – Urban Visions (consultant) –
Kimko co. Properties (developer) –
- Developer proposes a 7 lot sub-division on the parking lot formally owned by the recently vacated Baptist Manor. Lots would vary in size and design from ____ square feet to _____, including a duplex (see MNA website for site map). The development would offer no on-site parking due to its proximity to the MAX.
- Members Sara Linn (81st & Holiday), ______ (80th & Holiday), and Victor Flemming (80th & Multnomah) all express dislike for no onsite parking. Sara Linn expressed the notion that the size and density of the housing, two bedroom houses with a few square feet for a yard, were not consistent with single family dwellings.
- Issue will be discussed at next Land-use committee meeting and next general meeting
