Kimberly McClain, Chair of Montavilla, rode along with Officer Leslie Pintarich, on her beat a couple of weeks ago. Kimberly said that it's a different perspective when you see the city streets through the eyes of the police. Officer Pintarich cautioned people to start
locking their cars as auto theft always increases this time of year.
Carol Cima reported about the trouble people have had with the
people who frequented Club Rio at 82nd and Hawthorne. The club
is purportedly moving to 79th & NE Glisan where a new club called
the Tropicana has opened in the old Masonic Lodge. She said that
frustration from neighbors concerning this situation made them
think about seeking help from the activist group Acorn. It was
indicated that the neighborhood association was not effective
enough during their time of trouble. Anyone who would like to
volunteer food for Officer Appreciation Day can call Marion Fuller
from the Citizens Advisory Committee at Southeast Precinct,
503-823-2156. Each year the CAC prepares food for the police
officers in this precinct. It is a small way to say thanks for all the
good works that they do. Sandy McDaniels on the Banners
Committee said it costs about $350 to make and install a banner.
We are trying to come up with some different ways to get more
banners put up through out Montavilla. We are one of the biggest
neighborhood associations. You are invited to attend our general
meeting on the second Monday of the month at 7 pm at the
Montavilla Community Center, 82nd & NE Glisan.
If you would like more information about any of these activities or
would like to volunteer, please contact Kimberly McClain, President, at 503/262-0831 or kmbrly101@hotmail.com You can join our neighborhood association list serv at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Montavilla/
