The interesting article on the Harvey Scott statue in Mt. Tabor Park in the last MTNA newsletter did not mention that the artist, Gutzon Borglum, was the sculptor who created the monument at Mt. Rushmore. Borglum apparently worked on the Harvey Scott statue early in the period that he and his workmen were creating the faces on Mt. Rushmore (1927?–41). Although Borglum lived in the northeast United States during his adult years, he was born in the Idaho territory and trained as an artist in San Francisco and Paris under Auguste Rodin.
