America's Promise Summit Thursday, November 13, 2008?¾

On the 25th anniversary of the landmark report, “A Nation at Risk,”our country’s educational system remains in peril. Across the UnitedStates, one out of every three public high school students will notgraduate. A new report commissioned by America’s Promise Alliancefinds that the local graduation rate is also only 67%. Please join the Metropolitan Education Commission, City of Tucson, PimaCounty and the public, private and charter schools of our county forGoal One Graduate!, a summit focused on listening to the voice of ouryouth on the subject of increasing graduation rates. Although America’s Promise is sponsoring summits across the UnitedStates, Tucson’s is the only one giving the platform to our youngpeople. This summit and its outcomes will be the model for othercommunities to follow. Your participation and feedback is crucial to thesuccess of our summit, and to improving the graduation rate in thiscommunity. Please join us at this groundbreaking event.
