Since 1967, Blackstone Valley Communication Action has been assisting low income individuals and families and empowering them to become strong, self-reliant citizens through a wide variety of social programs. Each year over 12,000 people find help at BVCAP through referrals from schools, churches and other agencies, or by word of mouth. “We have not done an adequate job of formally marketing our services or communicating the important role we play in improving the quality of life for everyone in the Blackstone Valley,” said Vincent Ceglie, Executive Director. “People who need us may not know we exist. We’re initiating a public awareness campaign so that everyone – clients, employers, community leaders, funding sources, and other service providers - have a better understanding of what BVCAP offers.”
BVCAP’s programs include energy assistance, youth and adult education and employment training, youth success programs for at-risk teens and young mothers, housing development and housing assistance services, a food pantry, case management, and social services for seniors living in facilities managed by the Pawtucket Housing Authority. Services are provided to families living in Pawtucket, Central Falls, Cumberland, Lincoln and Woonsocket.
