America After 3PM: A Household Survey on Afterschool in America

Results from this recent Afterschool Alliance survey of children's after school arrangements show that 67% of K-12 youth are regularly cared for by a parent or guardian, while 25% are responsible for taking care of themselves. Only 11% of K-12 youth participate in after school programs. Of those children in self-care, 26% would be likely to participate in an after school program if one was available.

Over the summer, the HelpforSchools.com team has expanded the resources
found in Education on the Web in a major way. There are now over 3000
sites in more than 500 categories to help you in the classroom and
beyond.

Social studies teachers looking for classroom resources to might want
to
check out the expanded selection of sites about the U.S. Supreme Court,
and every teacher will need resources for teaching about the
Constitution on September 17th, Constitution Day. In addition to
social
studies, educators will find new content in all the curriculum areas.

Education on the Web has expanded its offerings for school
administrators with new categories for School Management, School
Reform,
Student Retention, and Program Evaluation.

In addition to all the new content in Education on the Web, we've also
added new content to the Positive Learning Climates and Special
Education & Medicaid KnowledgeBases. And in September, be on the look
out for our new KnowledgeBase on Program Evaluation.
