Pawtucket Foundation announces creation of the Pawtucket Land Trust
The board of directors of The Pawtucket Foundation is pleased to announce the creation of the Pawtucket Land Trust. The new nonprofit organization is a subsidiary of The Pawtucket Foundation. John J. Partridge, Esq, of Partridge Snow & Hahn is board chairman for the new Land Trust.
The main purpose of the new organization is to improve the lives of citizens of the City of Pawtucket, Rhode Island by preserving and maintaining open space and waterways within the City, preserving and maintaining historic structures and cultural monuments within historically significant areas of the City, providing access and maintenance through conservation and historic easements to such areas, structures and cultural monuments, and providing maintenance and monitoring of the same for the preservation, conservation, reuse and appropriate development of the same.
"We hope to use historic facade easements to preserve the urban fabric of Downtown and prevent further demolition of landmark buildings that contribute to the culture and historic value of the City," said Thomas A. Mann, Jr., president of the Pawtucket Land Trust. "We are certainly thinking beyond conventional conservation activities. We want to be innovative and help our City the way the Westerly Land Trust has helped Westerly's downtown."
