This alert is for any of you that are using Windows 8 or may be    contemplating using Windows 8 in the future.

This morning, in my Inbox, I had an email from, "Microsoft Windows",    with the subject, "Windows8 Update". Because I use Windows 8, I    opened the email and this is what it said:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
        Dear User,

It has come to our attention that your Microsoft windows        Installation        records are out of date. Every Windows installation has to be        registered with        an email account for daily update.

This requires you to verify the Email Account. Failure to verify        your records        will result in account suspension. Click on the VERIFY button        below and enter        your login information on the following page to Confirm your        records.

VERIFY
        To update your account

        Thank you,

Microsoft Windows Team.

This email looked awfully suspicios to me. When I placed (I did not    click) my mouse pointer on the link that said, "VERIFY" in big,    bold, capital letters, I saw that it was going to direct me to a Web    site, "http://angushowto101.com/windows8/windows". Hmmm! Not exactly    a Microsoft Web site.

I did some further investigation which confirmed my belief that this    was a scam to get your email information. Click on this link to    learn more about this scam http://m.nbcnews.com/technology/technolog/fake-windows-update-notice-wants-your-email-passwords-1B6110340
