City hosts community meetings to plan the future of Mesa's West Main Street Area
The City of Mesa Planning Division invites the community to attend the first in a series of four meetings to plan the long-term physical future of the West Main Street area. The first meeting will be held on June 6, 6:30 p.m. at the East Valley Institute of Technology, Culinary Arts Building Ballroom 1, 1601 W. Main St.
During this series of meetings, community members will join City staff in developing a plan by identifying area issues, creating a vision of the future and developing priorities for action. In later meetings, participants also will assist in the identification of preferred boundaries and development standards for transit oriented development overlay districts, which are zoning districts that regulate land uses, site layout and building form near light rail transit stations.
The West Main Street area being studied is approximately 2.57 square-miles and is bounded by the CAP canal at the Tempe city limits to the west; Country Club Dr. to the east; University Dr. to the north; and Broadway Rd. to the south.
