Dave Dougherty, Ward 6 Councilman
I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in this newsletter to inform you about Ward 6 issues and projects. I work very closely with the NEAR neighborhood group and am very impressed with their efforts. Together we accomplish a great deal in our neighborhood.
We have seen a tremendous amount of growth in the past years with annexation. We annexed approximately 2,200 acres into the city with approximately 400 acres added to Ward 6. The land is being planned for future business and housing opportunities. Recently, we experienced growth in Ward 6 with the completion of new buildings, road improvements, and beautification projects.
Ward 6 will continue to improve in 2004 with the following projects:
?· Completion of the First Tee Golf Facility on 25th St. NE
?· Construction of a new Wal Mart on Harmont and Rt. 62
?· Construction of a new convenience store and Laundromat at Harmont and 33rd St. NE
?· Construction of a new skate board area at Harmont Park
?· Renovations at the NECC with the addition of a new kitchen facility and gym floor
?· Construction of the Midway and 19th St. Storm Sewer Project to include sidewalks
?· Construction of the Fairmount Blvd. And Fletcher Ave. Storm sewer project
?· Engineering of the 30th St. NE storm sewer project with construction possible in 2005
Several other projects look very promising for Ward 6. I look forward to working with you and will keep you up to date in future newsletters. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
