The snows of winter are right around the corner, so now is
the time to prepare your house and property for colder weather.
Start by bringing inside anything that shouldn?’t be out in
the snow, such as tools or furniture. Not only will this preserve their value, but it will make them easier to find when the snow blankets the ground.
Secondly, make sure you have snow shovels and melting salt
available to clear your steps and sidewalks. Residents should be aware that Englewood has regulations concerning snow shoveling. All occupants or homeowners must not allow any snow or ice to accumulate or remain upon their sidewalks for longer than twelve (12) hours from the last
accumulation of snow. It is also illegal to shovel snow
onto any street or alley, unless the snow is placed into the traveled portion of the street and spread over the surface so as to cause the least interference with traffic or drainage. If you need help shoveling snow, the Malley
Senior Recreation Center has an Information and Referral
Service for seniors and caregivers of seniors. Call 303-762-2660 for more information.
Last, but certainly not least, we?’d like to remind you to
take proper care of your pets during winter weather. Unless you have a thick-coated dog, consider bringing your pets in on nights when the forecast calls for temperatures below 30 degrees. Also make sure there are fresh, clean blankets in your dog?’s house.
